Eventually, I'll get around to recounting my American Idol experience from Season 5. I was one of the top 75 contestants out of nearly 9,000 at the Greensboro, N.C., auditions. (For those who aren't aware, there are two rounds of auditions, with the show's producers and executive producers, before you make it to the "Unholy Trinity.")
My TV appearance (along with my outspoken little brother, Tyler, who made famous the phrase "I think it's baloney") led to numerous radio show interviews, which in turn led to more performance opportunities. So it's all good. And thanks to Ryan Seacrest for dubbing me "Cool Crooner Shawn de Salazar" - I like it.
Check back later for an insider's eye-opening look at American Idol, the most notorious reality TV/game show in television history . . .
